United Methodist Communities Certified as a Great Place to Work ® for Fourth Consecutive Year
Great Place to Work Institute has once again certified United Methodist Communities (UMC), a New Jersey based senior living provider, as a Great Place to Work ®. As in previous years, certification was based on the analysis of hundreds of anonymous survey responses submitted by UMC associates, which Great Place to Work then compared to thousands of additional responses and benchmarks from individuals working in the Senior Housing, Senior Care, and Home Care industries.
Rankings consider the experience of associates from every UMC campus, department, and role. Survey responses are analyzed and scored across 60 specific areas and delve into associates’ feelings surrounding organizational culture, professional development, and compensation, as well as perceptions of the difference their work makes and how UMC contributes to the community at large. Compared to the 59% average at a typical, U.S. based company, 77% of UMC associates agreed that United Methodist Communities is, overall, a Great Place to Work.
President & CEO Larry Carlson was very pleased to learn of UMC’s recertification. “It comes as no surprise that ‘resident’, ‘family’, and ‘team’ were the most frequently used words in UMC associates’ Trust Index © survey responses,” he shares. “We are so proud of the dedication and passion our associates have for serving older adults and are inspired by the way they live out our mission every day.”
UMC associates’ deep connection to their organization’s mission was reflected in the survey results. This year, 89% of UMC respondents asserted they feel their work has special meaning and is more than ‘just a job’ to them and 86% reported that they are proud to tell others they work at a UMC location.
“When associates are happy to come to work each day and share a sense of ownership in UMC’s mission, it creates a positive experience for staff, residents, and family members alike,” explains David Glenn, vice president of human resources. “Having our associates’ experience validated by an independent party such as Great Place to Work not only boosts morale among current team members but helps attract new associates who see their own values and goals reflected in UMC’s mission and culture.”
