Associate Close-Up: Ryan Champion

We recently sat down with the Sales Director at The Shores to learn more about him and his passion for senior care and services . These are his words:

 

Q: What is your name and position?

A: I’m Ryan Champion, Sales Director at The Shores.

 

Q: What do you like best about working for United Methodist Communities?

A: I love the feel of a very close family-like atmosphere.

 

Q: What makes United Methodist Communities unique?

A: Our many care neighborhoods and the living options and services we offer to older adults.

 

Q: What does Abundant Life mean to you?

A: The great thing about Abundant Life is that it can mean many different things. To me, it means living life to its fullest and enjoying each day.

 

Q: What have you learned from working at UMC?

A: I’ve learned to care and be compassionate to others.

 

Q: What has been your proudest moment at UMC?

A: Way too many come to mind, but becoming sales director is high on the list.

 

Q: What has been your career progression at UMC?

A: I started in Dining Services, then transitioned to Community Life, and now I’m leader of The Shores’ sales team.

 

Q: Why did you choose senior care and services?

A: It gives me a good feeling to help take care of The Shores’ residents.

 

Q: Is there an older adult who had a strong influence on your life?

A: No doubt about it, my mom.

 

Q: Do you have a prominent memory of your grandmother and/or grandfather?

A: Yes. Spending time with them during the holidays.

 

Q: Do the residents inspire you?

A: Every day, of course.

Q: Does one resident stand out?

A: No one in particular. I’ve learned so much from past and current residents.

 

Q: Where did you grow up? Where else have you lived?

A: I’ve always lived in Ocean City! Sand in my shoes!

 

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

A: Relaxing and enjoying my family and friends.

 

Q: What is your favorite family tradition?

A: Spending every holiday together.

 

Q: What are you most grateful for?

A: I’m most grateful for my health and a wonderful support system.

 

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share?

A: Everyone should live their definition of Abundant Life — it is a very powerful set of words.
