These services are offered in 4 of our full service communities and allow for a graceful transition from our assisted living programs within the same overall community. Long term care of this type is provided through our team of licensed nurses, certified aides and therapists and is broadly referred to as Skilled Nursing.

What is Skilled Nursing?

Skilled nursing comprises the most intensive and highest care level provided to our residents and is providing in the same overall campus as the assisted and independent living residences. Long term nursing home care is offered at at Collingswood in Collingswood NJ, Pitman in Pitman NJ, The Shores in Ocean City NJ and Bristol Glen in Newton NJ. These settings offer custodial and skilled nursing care and treatment from licensed nurses 24 hours a day.

Should I be in A Nursing Home Or An Assisted Living Facility?

Skilled Nursing  is appropriate for individuals with complex and potentially serious medical conditions such as wound dressings, breathing rehabilitation, tube feedings, or those with rapidly changing health status’ or persistent health issues which cannot be managed at home or in other settings. Sometimes individuals require skilled nursing on a temporary basis due to an injury or illness.

Some of the more common conditions treated in skilled nursing include post-operative wounds, stroke, injuries, diabetes, infections, Alzheimer’s, cardio-vascular ailments, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, or respiratory ailments.

Additional skilled nursing services include:

  • Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Services
  • Social and Educational Activities
  • Laundry Services
  • Limited Transportation
  • Personal Care: Bathing, Dressing, Personal Hygiene, Eating, Maneuvering In and Out of Bed and/or Walking, Incontinence

Who Administers Nursing Home Care?

Nursing home care is delivered by skilled nursing personnel who include registered and licensed practicing nurses, certified nursing assistants, and physical, speech and occupational therapists.  This team works together cooperatively to promote recovery and manage, maintain and improve functioning and quality of life. All organizations conducting nursing care are licensed, inspected and regulated by their state’s Department of Health Services; in this case, by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
