Welcome to Bishop Taylor
United Methodist Communities at Bishop Taylor is named in honor of the late Prince A. Taylor, Jr. who served as the New Jersey area’s first resident Bishop from 1964 until 1972. Opened in 1989, this senior housing community for low to moderate income adults is sponsored by Calvary-Roseville United Methodist Church, Christ Episcopal Church, United Methodist Communities and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
It features a mix of 76 one-bedroom apartments and studio apartments, located in downtown East Orange within walking distance of churches, City Hall, retail shopping, recreation, and bus and rail transportation. Bishop Taylor also offers 24/7 security, cable television hookups, an outdoor patio, social activities, and congregate meal and housekeeping programs to seniors 62-years-of-age and older.
