World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Our speaker, Kellie Spawton, is the Director of Security at OceanFirst Bank. With over 20 years of banking experience, Kellie is a subject matter expert in the areas of Security and Fraud, with a focus on preventing and detecting Elder Financial Exploitation. Kellie is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. She is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Organizational Behavior, and is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and Wharton Leadership Program. This presentation will cover the following topics:

Elder Financial Exploitation Overview: In this session we will cover the types of Elder Financial Exploitation and its common forms, as well as red flags of Financial Exploitation. Learn what financial professionals look for in order to keep you safe.

Common Scams: What are the most common scams in which elder individuals are targeted and why? Learn some of the ways fraudsters try to take advantage of elder individuals.
How to Protect Yourself: Discover ways to keep yourself and your money safe. Understand the questions that may be asked of you by financial or legal professionals in order to help keep you safe and ensure you are not being exploited.

How to Recover: What do you do if it happens to you? You’re not alone! Expert advice to help you navigate your way after a fraudster does the worst.
