Community Outreach

Community Outreach

At United Methodist Communities our outreach to local areas is central to our mission as a Christian non-profit, and part of the DNA of our entire organization. Furthermore, we believe that efforts to pursue social accountability in this way cannot be successful without a clearly defined purpose or mission.

Our mission is to provide an environment that allows all to live an “abundant life.”

In order to achieve this, United Methodist Communities provides the highest level of compassionate care to our residents, but each year we look beyond this to bring the compassion, skill and volunteer spirit of our residents, associates and employees to the local communities we serve.

When United Methodist Communities talks about “Volunteerism” there is both the volunteerism we enable, and the volunteerism we contribute. That to which we contribute, we call our social accountability mission and it has direct and lasting benefits to the communities we serve.

What Does United Methodist Communities Contribute to Local Areas?

Being a productive part of a community is a lot about being a good neighbor. After all, our communities are where our associates live and work and where our residents and their families love to visit. We demonstrate our commitment locally through the passion of our residents and associates as well as support for the passion and civic-mindedness of individuals and organizations living and working in the local area.

Just some of the ways in which United Methodist Communities contributes materially to local communities has included:

  • Donation of spaces and common areas for meetings and educational purposes
  • Volunteers to manage or help local initiatives during work hours
  • Workforce development programs and job training classes by United Methodist Communities’ volunteers
  • Direct cash or in-kind donations and contributions to local organizations
  • Sponsorship of healthcare initiatives, blood drives, flu shots, and more
  • Informational seminars and trainings on topics ranging from money management to CPR
  • Donations of food and equipment to organizations providing community support such as first responders
  • Sponsorship of social events and environmental initiatives in the community like recycling, or cleanup

The Power of United Methodist Communities Associates

With their unique knowledge and familiarity with aging and senior care issues, United Methodist Communities’ associates are committed to donating their skills and expertise back to the local community in hundreds of ways, both large and small.
UMCommunities Associates

Our associates regularly volunteer for a multitude of organizations including Habitat for Humanity, JBJ Soul Kitchen, Bradley Beach Food Pantry, Ocean City Little League, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Salvation Army, Rotary International, Girl Scouts, Master Gardeners, Second Life Bikes, and local churches, to name just a few.

Once a month, United Methodist Communities’ volunteers lend a helping hand collecting, sorting, transferring and organizing donated food at the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The FoodBank distributes food to 1 in 10 people throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties, which translates to almost 10 million meals a year.

United Methodist Communities at PineRidge of Montclair and AngelaCARES have joined forces with the Montclair Public Library to offer a vibrant new resource center and weekly meeting place for seniors. The unified mission of three partners is to promote living and learning for older adults, as well as to provide support where needed.

Fulfilling Our Mission

When you support the United Methodist Communities Foundation, you support an organization whose purpose encompasses the heart of what it means to belong to a community. On the other hand, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, none of this would be possible without the support of loyal donors.

There are many ways you can get involved with our mission, starting with a direct contribution of any size to the Foundation. Please help us continue to fulfill our social accountability purpose by donation today.
