Midge's Story
Marguerite “Midge” Peacock lived at United Methodist Communities at The Shores from 2017 to 2022, moving from Camden County to be closer to her family. She knew the importance of staying connected and engaged, and shortly after moving in she was looking for groups to play Bridge, Pinochle, or Mah Jong. Midge learned Mah Jong in her early 70s. When she realized that most people at The Shores were not familiar with it, Michele, the volunteer coordinator, encouraged her to teach them.
Midge believed that supporting The Shores creates opportunities for senior to stay active and social later in life. She was pleased to give to the UMC Foundation in honor of her fellow residents and The Shores’ teammates, saying, “anything that’s helping someone is a cause worth supporting.”
