Services & Care Provided at Pitman

Assisted Living

Assisted Living creates a less restrictive environment that enhances a person’s dignity, choice, independence, stability and privacy. It brings professional caregiving right to your apartment. With United Methodist Communities’ unique “aging in place” model, a resident does not have to move from an apartment to secure support services, even as needs change. This customized solution perfectly suits people who should not live alone, but are not ready for a nursing home. Residents who need assistance with one or more basic personal and health care services, known as activities of daily living (ADLs), are appropriate for assisted living. These include such functions as bathing, eating, dressing, ambulating, etc.

Memory Support

Memory Support is studio apartment style living, in a residence designed to support individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Because those with dementia show a wide range of capabilities and aptitude, customized programs engage each resident as appropriate. Daily tasks and routines revolve around “home living.” This encourages active participation, skill maintenance and prolongs independence for as long as possible.

Respite Care

Respite Care serves multiple purposes. Are you considering life in a senior community? A respite stay lets you test the waters and may be just the opportunity to help you make a decision. It is also appropriate for caregivers needing rest and renewal or a safe environment for medically stable individuals following an illness, hospitalization or short-term rehabilitation.

Short-term Rehabilitation

Short-term rehabilitation specializes in patients discharged from the hospital, but not yet ready to return home. Following surgery or an illness, it focuses on recuperative caregiving, concentrated rehabilitative therapy, general strengthening and medical treatment. Designed for the patient whose medical needs are not as complex as those in a dedicated sub-acute program, short-term rehab is housed in the skilled nursing residence to facilitate close monitoring. Medicare and private health insurance plans are accepted for short-term rehab.

Skilled Nursing

Skilled nursing involve managing complex and potentially serious medical conditions that require licensed professional nursing on a 24/7 basis. The skilled nursing residence is housed in the nursing home section of Pitman.

Hospice

Hospice and palliative care bring compassion and support not only to the resident, but also, to family members. It incorporates a multi-disciplinary team approach to medical care, pain management and emotional and spiritual support. Focus rests upon the resident’s needs, desires, comfort, dignity and quality of life. Pitman Manor can arrange hospice care through our partnerships with hospice organizations. It is usually covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, HMOs, and other managed care networks. Hospice is available in the assisted living or nursing home residences of Pitman.
