Choosing a faith-based community makes a difference. United Methodist Communities was founded and remains grounded as a Wesleyan, faith-based, retirement, health and welfare ministry affiliated with the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church. Honoring our fathers and mothers lies at the heart of our faith tradition. A major differentiator that sets us apart from our for-profit competitors is that our Board of Directors and corporate leadership are guided by our sense of mission and our core values, and not by investors seeking dividends. Earnings that exceed our expenses go back into developing, maintaining and expanding our ministry.
We do what we do, not because we are offering a “product,” but because we are called by God to make a difference in the lives of others; specifically our residents and their families, our volunteers, visitors and vendors, each other as UMC associates, and the cities, towns, and areas that our residential communities serve.
Our Spiritual Life Mission
Our mission of compassionately serving in community so that all are free to choose abundant life and our core values of compassion, respect, stewardship, and service, guide our decision-making. As a faith-based nonprofit, we believe supporting individuals’ spiritual and religious practices with chaplains who are trained to provide ecumenical and interfaith care which creates opportunities for abundant living. While roughly one third of our independent and assisted living residents are United Methodist, fully two thirds of our residents represent diverse ecumenical and interfaith traditions. Further, we are committed to demonstrating our values statement daily.
We intentionally weave our values into the fabric of UMC’s ministry, to authentically express who we are and how we deliver care.
