Celebrating 40 Years of Service

At Pitman Manor, we are proud to have many team members who have chosen to dedicate decades of their careers to serving our residents and community. One of those remarkable individuals is Victoria Brooks, who recently celebrated 40 years of service at Pitman Manor.

Victoria's journey began in 1986 when she and her niece were driving around looking for employment opportunities and noticed the Pitman Manor sign. "Right away we looked at each other and said, 'This is it!'" Victoria shares. She applied for a position in housekeeping and was later offered the job.

She began her career in housekeeping, where she built relationships with residents and their families. Reflecting on those early years, she says, "I knew this is where I belong." After two years, Victoria saw an opening in Activities, now Community Life, and applied for the position. She was offered the role and has spent the past 38 years helping residents stay active, engaged, and connected through programs, events, and more.

“I believe working with seniors has to come from within. No matter what position you have, you need a caring heart,” Victoria says. “To know in my heart that I make a difference in someone’s life is special to me.”

"Victoria's 40 years of service represent the very best of what Pitman Manor stands for," said Michele Matthews, Executive Director of Pitman Manor. "Through her work in Community Life, she has helped shape programming that brings residents together and brings joy to their daily lives. The care she puts into her work is felt throughout the community, and we are grateful for all she has contributed over the years."

Looking back on her career, Victoria expresses gratitude for the people she has met along the way.

"I am proud to be a member of UMC and would not change the experiences that I had. I have worked with many good people and met wonderful family members that I still keep in touch with over the years. Thank you, Pitman Manor, for allowing me to be a part of your community for 40 years.”
