Spiritual Life

At UMC, spiritual life is not an add-on; it’s at the heart of everything we do.

Rooted in our faith-based mission, we nurture the whole person by caring for mind, body, and spirit.

A Faith-Based Community

UMC is a Wesleyan, faith-based nonprofit retirement and health ministry affiliated with the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church. Since our founding, we have been committed to honoring older adults through values inspired by our faith tradition - while welcoming individuals of all denominations.

As a nonprofit, UMC operates with a mission-first mindset. Our Board of Directors and leadership are focused on service and purpose—not profit. Any funds beyond operating needs are reinvested into our communities, enriching the services, programs, and spiritual care that help residents thrive. This dedication to stewardship and service is a defining difference that sets UMC apart from for-profit senior care providers.

At UMC, every community we operate is built on the belief that older adults deserve respect, support, and opportunities to live with meaning and connection. That belief shapes how we serve, how we lead, and how we build community.

Our Spiritual Life Mission

Spiritual life at UMC is centered on one clear goal: to compassionately serve in community so that all are free to choose abundant life. This mission guides our approach to every interaction and decision, from resident care to community partnerships.

Our professional chaplains are trained to offer both ecumenical and interfaith support, ensuring that people of all backgrounds and beliefs feel welcome. Our residents represent a wide range of denominations, faith traditions, or have no religious affiliation. Everyone is respected, and every journey is honored.

Spiritual support at UMC isn’t limited to formal worship. It lives in quiet conversations, shared prayers, moments of reflection, and the simple presence of someone who listens. Our values like compassion, respect, stewardship, and service are not just words. These shape the everyday culture of our communities. From residents and families to teammates and volunteers, spiritual life at UMC touches every person we serve.
