The Shores rolls out red carpet for Shirley MacLaine, serves as filming location for “People Not Places” movie

The Shores, a UMC Community, is still buzzing following the recent visit from legendary actress Shirley MacLaine and the cast and crew of the film “People Not Places.” Directed by Brad Furman, the film, according to imdb.com, centers around “a sprightly woman in her twilight years (who) strikes up an unlikely friendship with a local homeless man, while struggling to mend a troubled relationship with her son.” Residents and teammates alike throughout our community were treated to the Hollywood experience, as The Shores was transformed into a live movie set, serving as a filming location for a four-day period.
Shirley made herself accessible to our community throughout the entire process and displayed an incredible amount of gratitude and appreciation for not just our residents, but her experience as a whole. It was truly an opportunity so many of us will never forget. Our residents and teammates were even asked to play small roles in the movie itself! The film is expected to be released sometime in 2026.
