The Shores, a UMC senior living community in Ocean City, NJ joined the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on the city’s boardwalk on October 24.
The Shores’ group included teammates, residents, loved ones, and volunteers, all committed to helping advance awareness, care, and research for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
"We look forward to this event every year," says Michele Musto, Volunteer Coordinator at The Shores. "It's very special to us. It's an opportunity to come together and honor the residents and families we've supported over the years who have been affected by dementia. We hope they recognize that we are not only standing by their side today, but every day."
Support for individuals affected by cognitive changes continues year-round at The Shores through Tapestries® Memory Care. With around-the-clock support, personalized care plans, and private apartments, the program helps residents maintain as much independence as possible while offering peace of mind for their families. The Shores also offers Abundant Minds Café, a free monthly program for the wider Ocean City community who want to learn proactive ways to support cognitive wellness.
“One of the most special parts of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the chance to be there alongside the residents and family members we support,” said Jim Zauner, Executive Director of The Shores. “These are families we know, care about, and walk with in very real ways beyond this event. To share this day with them and the larger Ocean City community is a powerful reminder of why this work matters.”
